If you plan on drag racing by all means buy one, if you plan on racing on tracks that would probably be the worst car to buy. I personally hate american cars. If you want a really fast car that looks really nice and will turn heads more than a Viper and handles 10 times better and costs about 10-15k less, then go with a Cobra R. I'm sure everyone has heard of them, they only made a limited suply of them, thats why they cost so much. Speedvision had a competition between the Viper GTS-R, Cobra-R, and Corvette C5. The Viper won the quarter mile by about 1.5 sec. and the Cobra got in second for that. When they tested them on the track, the Cobra did the best since it is a pure race car, it comes with slicks as STOCK tires. The corvette got second on the track and the Viper finished last, around 10-15 seconds behind on each lap. The racers that were testing them said that the Corvette handled like a true sports car and the Cobra wasn't even a competion, it blew the Viper and Corvette away in handling and cornering. They said that the Viper was really hard to keep on the road, if you went more than 20 around a corner you would spin out or atleast swerve of the road. As far as style, they had a pole on the speedvision site and asked the drivers too, both ways the Cobra won, Viper got second and Corvette didn't even come close. My opinion, go with a Cobra-R if you want power, style, AND handling, not to menchion they are cheaper and are going to be worth alot of money since they were the last cobras made and their engines are hand built.
